Samuel Flecker
Samuel Flecker, 91, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Dec. 3, 2013. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he escaped to Russia at age 17, spent two years in a prison camp, and then joined the Russian Army where, because he spoke several languages, he served as an interpreter for Gen. Georgy Zhukov. After the war, with the help of an American lieutenant, he came to the United States in January 1947.
Mr. Flecker was a photographer with studios in Staten Island and East Brunswick.
He served as president of the NJ/NY chapter of the Photographers Association.
Predeceased by his second wife, Marilyn, in 1993, he is survived by two daughters, Diane (Barry) Mael of Highland Park and Robin (Peter) Seitz of Hillsborough; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 5 with arrangements by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
