Shoah documentary to be screened

PROJECT WITNESS, in conjunction with the Regency Jewish Heritage Post-Acute, Rehab and Nursing Center, will present “Daring to Rescue” in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom HaShoah, on Sunday, April 23, at 4 p.m., at Regency Jewish Heritage in Somerset.

This 2016 Project Witness Holocaust documentary film focuses on the courage of Jews who, despite serious personal risk, dedicated their lives to saving as many of their fellow Jews as they could from the grips of the Nazis. In preparation for producing “Daring to Rescue,” close to 100 interviews were conducted with survivors and relatives of rescuers around the world. With special permission from leading Holocaust research institutions, “Daring to Rescue” will also feature excerpts from rarely seen interviews that were conducted years ago.

Project Witness is a nonprofit Holocaust research, resource, and education center dedicated to disseminating Holocaust awareness and the message of tolerance and humanity that applies to all mankind. Programs and resources include Witness to History (a comprehensive Holocaust resource textbook), the “Remember the Children Passport Program” for middle school students, a classroom curriculum for middle and high school students (including the Project HEART curriculum for middle school students in public schools), teacher training workshops and guides, community events, and the “Eyewitness to History” video archiving program (a permanent testimony archive for survivors and future generations).
