Bris Avrohom celebrates at its 46th annual dinner
On November 9, Bris Avrohom will host its annual dinner. The organization was founded by the Lubavitcher rebbe in 1979 to help Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union and spread awareness of Judaism here. Bris Avrohom has three branches in New Jersey. Its headquarters at Congregation Shomrei Torah Ohel Yosef Yitzchok in Hillside include Cheder Yaldei Menachem and Mikvah Batsheva Chaya Esther. The organization includes Camp Gan Israel, also in Hillside, and the Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp in Fair Lawn. There are branches and activities in New York, Ukraine, and Israel. To date, the organization has helped more than 35,000 people.
Brothers Shlomi and Gil Adoni, this year’s guests of honor, are involved in Bris Avrohom activities and are supporters of Bris Avrohom Center, Cheder Yaldei Menachem, and Mikvah Batsheva Chaya Esther.
Mussie Zakheim and Sara Gila Gutnick will be honored with Bris Avrohom’s Young Leadership award. They recognized the need for a summer camp in the growing Hillside/Elizabeth community and took the initiative to open one — Camp Gan Israel, which serves children from Hillside, Elizabeth, and surrounding communities, including children from public schools.
