Bris Avrohom/young professionals meet in NYC
College students gathered at Chabad of Midtown with Rabbis Mordechai and Avremy Kanelsky of Bris Avrohom to talk about the upcoming High Holy Days. Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky spoke about the significance of Rosh Hashanah and Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky blew the shofar and talked about its meaning. A roundtable Q&A session with refreshments followed and the attendees received a jar of honey and honey cake from the rabbis.
The parents of the many of the attendees were former students of Rabbi Mordechai and Shterney Kanelsky of Bris Avrohom when they came from Russia and attended Rogosin High School in Jersey City. It was gratifying for the Kanelskys to work with the third generation — they introduced the first generation to Yiddishkeit and performed chuppahs for many of them, they taught the second generation in yeshiva, and now they are teaching the next generation of Jews who continue the legacy of their ancestors.
