Last month, the New Jersey General Assembly celebrated the centennial anniversary of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey. To commemorate the occasion, a delegation of federation leadership attended a lunch at the Trenton War Memorial with Governor Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matt Platkin. There was a proclamation presentation on the Assembly Chamber floor.

Governor Murphy expressed his appreciation for the ways the federation has worked not only to strengthen Jewish community, but also civil society, contributing to efforts that have helped New Jerseyans affected by catastrophic storms, covid, and food insecurity. “From feeding families across New Jersey to supporting our senior citizens, fFederation plays a critical role in helping our Jewish community amidst the rise of antisemitism,” he said.

Michael Goldberg, the president of the JFGMW, president, holds the proclamation from the New Jersey General Assembly. He’s with centennial chair Jane Wilf and the rest of the federation’s delegation outside the Trenton State House.

After the luncheon, Centennial Chair Jane Wilf, Federation President Michael Goldberg, Jewish Community Relations Council Chair Jody Hurwitz Caplan, and Jewish Community Foundation President Steven D. Levy received a proclamation honoring the federation for building a strong and vibrant Jewish community and contributing to the growth and prosperity of New Jersey. “This historic milestone for our Jewish federation honors 100 years of building community and being an integral part of the great state of New Jersey, proudly contributing to its growth and development,” Ms. Wilf said.

The proclamation was presented by Assemblywoman Rosie Bagolie and Assemblymen Reginald Atkins, Mike Inganamort, and Gary Schaer, who all participated in the Jewish federation’s legislators and educators mission to Israel in January.

In his closing remarks on the Assembly floor, Mr. Goldberg offered the Jewish community’s collective vision for the future. “We look forward to the next 100 years, as we pass the torch to our children and grandchildren, with the hope that our place in American society continues to grow and thrive and become more safe and secure,” he said.
