I joined about 3,800 people at KosherPalooza at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus on June 28. I ate my way through the all-day kosher food show, hosted by Fleishigs Magazine and Powwow Events, that featured 125 vendors, food and wine tastings, games and competitions, book signings, demos, and more.

According to Fleishigs COO Shlomo Klein, “We wanted this site to be about people having a positive kosher experience, to come and have fun, walk around, taste foods, enjoy great entertainment around food, and enjoy — and we did just that.

“The vibe was electric all day and everyone just had a great time — consumers, vendors and everyone in between.”

“At Fleishigs we are all about making kosher fun and exciting,” Shifra Klein, the magazine’s editor in chief, said. “This show was the next step actually bringing Fleishigs to the people, and we are so happy with the way the show turned out and the overwhelming positive response.”

Danielle Renov, a bestselling cookbook author and food blogger, was the official KosherPalooza floor host, giving Kosher.com viewers a behind-the-scenes tour of the program, which was live-streamed all day. Hundreds of food brands and many cookbook authors, influencers, and experts convened under one roof. The day included “Chopped”-style cooking competitions, cooking and mixology demonstrations, wine tasting classes, book signings with famous cookbook authors, and informative panel discussions.

Attendees also were treated to a wide range of exhibitors, from restaurants and visionary startups to the classic brands your grandmother grew up with.  There were more than 100 booths, from presenters including Royal Wine Corp., the Cheese Guy, Prairie St. Prime, Jacks Gourmet, Holy Wagyu Meats, Kosher Valet, Bethel Creamery, Pizza Biza, Bread and Batter, the Nuttery, and Pelleh. Noted kosher cookbook authors and influencers included Kim Kushner, Levana, Naomi Ross, Paula Shoyer, Chanie Apfelbaum, Rochie Pinson, Gabe Geller of Royal Wine, and Dani Klein. Games included blind taste tests, hot sauce contests, and a wine glass challenge; panels of experts offered wine tastings, mixology demos, and a People’s Choice award for best new product. There were also prizes and giveaways and talks from organizations including the Orthodox Union and Masbia.
