Azi Feuerberg of Hillside, a seventh grader at the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, and his parents, Aliza and Andy Feuerberg, recently celebrated Azi’s upcoming bar mitzvah in an unusual way. Learning by the example set by his parents’ community involvement, friends and family were asked to donate a Shabbat and holiday food package program to Tomchei Shabbos of Elizabeth, Hillside, and Springfield in honor of Azi’s bar mitzvah. The Feuerberg family donated cheesecakes for the Tomchei Shabbos Shavuot holiday packages distributed this week.

A group of Azi’s classmates wrap the cheesecakes his family donated. Others were outside packing up the Shavuot boxes.

To enhance the celebration, Azi’s entire class, his teachers, rabbis, and some administrators from the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth went to the JFSCNJ Charlotte Shak Food Pantry to pack the Tomchei Shabbos packages this week.
