Neve Hanna leader to be honored at Pine Brook Jewish Center

HEDDY BELMAN, chair of the development committee of American Friends of Neve Hanna (AFNH), will be honored at a brunch on Sunday, Nov. 17, noon-4 p.m. at Pine Brook Jewish Center in Montville.

AFNH copresidents Janet and Irwin Tobin will host the event; guest speaker will be Rabbi Ellen Wolintz-Fields, executive director of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, a supporter of Neve Hanna Children’s Home.

Belman engages foundations and obtains grants to support Neve Hanna, a Masorti (Conservative) community in Kiryat Gat, Israel, that provides nurturing and therapeutic support to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of children from disadvantaged families.

Belman will speak of her visit to Neve Hanna and her work with the SACHI (Sayeret Chesed Yehudit Teenage Welfare Club) program, a nationwide youth program founded at Neve Hanna.
