New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance hosts lunch

The New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance hosted its 11th annual Legislative and Business Luncheon on August 6. The program, at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, united a group of business and community leaders and legislators to recognize outstanding contributions to New Jersey’s economic development. It also addressed key issues affecting the Jewish and broader business communities.
Democratic U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill (Dist. 11) and Republican former State Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (Dist. 16), their party’s nominees for New Jersey governor, were the keynote speakers.
The NJJBA also honored two people whose work, it said, has significantly impacted New Jersey’s economic and civic landscape. State Senator Anthony Bucco, a Republican who represents New Jersey’s 25th Legislative District, was presented with the Excellence in Leadership award in recognition of his dedicated service to all residents of New Jersey, regardless of party or background. Paul Ghermezian, COO of American Dream Meadowlands, accepted the Corporate Excellence award on behalf of American Dream, acknowledging his vital role in the success of the state’s largest retail and entertainment destination.
“Senator Bucco and Paul Ghermezian have made outstanding contributions to the economic vitality of our state,” David Rosenberg, NJJBA’s executive director, said. “We are proud to honor their achievements and deeply grateful to the Honorable Jack Ciattarelli and the Honorable Mikie Sherrill for their continued public service and unwavering support of New Jersey’s Jewish community.”
Prominent business and civic leaders delivered remarks. They included Maksim Sheyn, Alma Bank’s chief banking officer; Monica Slater Stokes, United Airlines’ managing director of corporate and government affairs; and Wesley Mathews, president and CEO of Choose New Jersey.
The NJJBA is committed to advancing the interests of Jewish business professionals and fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and prosperous business environment in New Jersey. The annual legislative and business luncheon is a platform for dialogue, partnership, and advocacy on behalf of the state’s Jewish and business communities.
“The luncheon was more than just speeches — it was a chance to connect with decision-makers and peers who can help shape the future of our state,” Douglas Berm, managing partner of Bern & Associates LLC in Englewood, said. “That kind of collaboration is invaluable.” For more information about the NJJBA, email Info@njjba.com.
