DR. NEAL GITTLEMAN spent one week in September volunteering at the Trudi Birger Dental Clinic in Jerusalem through a program called Dental Volunteers for Israel (DVI). DVI provides free dental care and oral health education to thousands of needy patients in Jerusalem every year, regardless of race and religion.
“DVI allows me to give back to the underserved population be it Jewish, Arab Israeli, or Palestinian,” said Gittleman. “It is a unique opportunity to give back in a small way to the people of Israel, my talents as a dentist.”
In 2018, 133 volunteer dentists from around the world performed 10,836 treatments which benefitted 2,709 poor or at-risk children in Israel.
