Public menorah-lighting ceremonies in Northwest NJ
The Chabad Center of Northwest NJ will mark Chanukah with menorah- lighting ceremonies, programs, celebrations at local nursing homes and senior centers, and more. Chanukah begins at nightfall on Sunday, December 14, and runs through Monday, December 22. Ceremonies will include music, hot potato latkes, donuts, dreidels, and other treats.
Rabbi Mordechai Baumgarten, the Chabad center’s program director added, “The lessons of Chanukah give great guidance to anyone navigating life’s challenges — especially now with the shocking rise of antisemitic activities. A message of the Chanukah holiday is — when you see darkness, don’t despair. Just focus on shedding light, because just a little light will illuminate much darkness. Acts of kindness, positivity, pleasant dispositions or an assuring word give us all the insight and strength necessary to conquer adverse circumstances. As in the story of Chanukah it starts with one light, which naturally increases because one positive act begets another,” he said.
