Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky addresses state Assembly’s final session of 2025

Assemblywoman Lisa Swain (D-38), Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19), and Assemblyman Chris Tully (D-38)
Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky gave the invocation at the final session of New Jersey’s General Assembly for 2025, which fell on the last day of Chanukah. His speech included messages about Chanukah and the upcoming New Year, as well as the terrorist attack in Australia and how it is good to give charity in memory of those who were killed and injured. He added how the light of the menorah has and always will illuminate the world and the hearts of the citizens in these uncertain dark times.
As his resolution for the new year, Rabbi Kanelsky asked that the honorable Assembly members in the room take a moment each day to lift their eyes to God and say a prayer of thanks, and he presented Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin with a menorah.
