The Wayve Teen Philanthropy Board
THE WAYVE TEEN Philanthropy Board is accepting requests for proposals that will provide Union County-based charities with $5,300 in grant awards for proposals chosen by the board. The deadline for submissions is April 10, 2018. The grant awards will be announced May 21, 2018.
The allocation of funds will be a “force for positive change in the community,” said WAYVE Teen Philanthropy cochair Aidan Maher.
Members of the WAYVE Teen Philanthropy Board also include Matthew Dispenza, Mackenzie Dulski, Ava Feldman, Roselyne Garabete, Nathaniel Fountain Jardim, Jesse Katz, Sloane Silverman, Rachel Simpson, Marianne Smith, and Ryan Smith.
All members of the WAYVE Teen Philanthropy Board have volunteered for a wide range of Union County-based charities, social service organizations, synagogues, and churches. The Westfield Area Youth Volunteer Experience (WAYVE) is made possible through a grant from the Westfield Foundation and is coordinated by Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ).
The board will be mentored by Tom Beck, executive director; JFSCNJ, Janet Sarkos, president of the Westfield Foundation; and Darielle Walsh, Westfield community leader. These professionals will help the teens decide which proposals will receive their support based on addressing the needs of Union County residents.
The grant requests will range from $500-$1,500 and are for a one-time, short-term project. The focus areas are: food insecurity, technology/equipment, environmental, social service, and advocacy for impoverished and/or vulnerable populations. Proposals need to demonstrate how the program will promote the health and social well-being of the agency’s constituents. Applicant agencies must be a non-profit organization with proof of 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status, have strong board involvement, and demonstrate responsible financial stewardship. The board will not award funds to individuals for scholarships.
Any organization interested in applying should email WAYVE@jfscentralnj.org for an application.
