Rep. Sherrill shakes hands with Herb Lev, the father of a JSDD resident; Linda Press stands behind her, left. Clockwise, with them and JSDD residents, are Lori Solomon of JSDD, and Becca Wanatick, director of Disability Inclusion and Belonging for Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest.

Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ Dist. 11) visited Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled in Livingston to meet with residents of JSDD’s homes, WAE Center members, family members, and staff. Ms. Sherrill was pivotal in helping JSDD secure Community Project funding, which will launch JSDD: Life | Home | Tech. The project will allow JSDD to develop technology to support people as they live as independently as possible in the community; to be a resource to families with transition-age children (18-21 years) to incorporate technology as a way of fading supervision through the implementation of assistive devices; and provide for the shoring up and expansion of the existing WAE to connect virtual offerings.  For more information, go to www.jsddmetrowest.org.
