Free family service in Scotch Plains
Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold its annual family service on erev Rosh Hashanah, Wednesday, October 2, at 5:30 p.m. The child-friendly service is free and open to the community. Rabbi Howard Tilman and Cantor Jacob Greenberg will lead the one-hour service, which includes songs, stories, and prayers. Registration is required at www.cbinj.org/event/erevrh5785#.
CBI also offers community outdoor shofar-blowing gatherings; CBI members will blow the shofar in front of the shul building at 6 p.m. on September 25 and 26. The community is invited to participate in CBI’s Tashlich ceremony on October 3, at 5 p.m., in the synagogue’s side parking lot. Registration is not required for shofar blowing or Tashlich.
