Summit shuls will mark MLK’s legacy on Sunday
Three Summit synagogues unite every year to commemorate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, Congregation Beth Hatikvah, Temple Sinai, and Congregation Ohr Shalom, will show the documentary in person and on Zoom, “Shared Legacies — The African American-Jewish Civil Rights Alliance,” in-person and on Zoom at Congregation Beth Hatikvah. A panel discussion with Jewish and African American clergy on how to rebuild the historic alliance between Blacks and Jews — especially important with the rise in antisemitism — will follow. The film screening begins at 3 p.m.; the panel discussion is at 5. To watch the movie before the program, register for an emailed link.
The commemoration is free and open to the public. Register at www.bethhatikvah.org/MLK_registration. For more information, call (908) 277-0200.
Covid vaccinations are required to attend in person and masks may be required if the level of covid in the community is high.
